July 26th, 2007: I will not be posting my dream from last night today, as it's not after midnight and I need to get some sleep.  But I would like to tell you what happened today, and why I did not have time to post them. 

Me, my son Samuel and my other son Brandon took my wife to her regular mid-wife checkup in Martinsburg, it's about a 45 minute drive from Berkeley Springs.  After the appointment we were on the way home when the V belt in my car broke.  The alternator light light up red and the engine temperature shot up into the red, luckily this happened when we were at a red light.  If I was driving anywhere else, most likely the engine could have suffered damage.  After the light turned green I immediately dove the car across the street into a small open area near some abandoned buildings...and old apple processing plant I think.

I got out, popped the hood and immediately saw it was the V belt, as it was laying in a heart shape on top of the engine block.  If you do not know what a V belt is....basically its a rather long belt (4 feet or so) that drives the alternator, air conditioner, water pump etc.  Anyway, since I do not believe in cell phones, there was no way I could call a service company to come help, let alone afford one.  So I knew I had to get another belt myself and put it on, soon.  Problem was that it was already starting to get dark and I was still about 40 minutes from home and I only had $50 in my pocket. 

So, with the broken belt in my hand, I kissed my wife and kids goodbye and started to walk to a gas station about a half mile away down to route 9 to a gas station I have seen several times...this is where it starts getting strange. First, I want to say that I do not know anyone that lives in Martinsburg, and only about 10 people in Berkeley Springs, and so far no one has ever noticed me.

Anyway, I made it to the gas station and was waiting in line so I could use the phone to call my next-door neighbor, Jessie, to see is he could come to my rescue.  While I was waiting in line, I felt a tap on my shoulder...I turned around and it was one of my neighbors, Rich, who also lives in Berkeley Springs and almost never visits Martinsburg.  Anyway, he said that he was driving to Auto-Zone to get a part returned for his father when he noticed me walking down route 9...carrying a engine belt...so he turned the car around to see if I needed any help...which I did.

The strange thing was that he saw me exactly when I approached route 9, a second before, or a second later, he would have never noticed me.  Martinsburg is a rather large city, at least for what I'm used to, and the odds that he would be driving at that specific location and time are unimaginable.  Especially when he rarely ever visits Martinsburg, let alone going to be going to an auto parts store...exactly where I needed to go.

So we get into the car and he took me to Auto-Zone where he returns some part and I get a new V-Belt, than happened to be on sale for only 23.99...what luck.  Also, if it were much later the parts store would be closed and there would be no way I could get a belt that night.  Anyway, to make this short, he took me back to my car were my wife and kids were playing...not waiting :)  The belt was put on and the car ran fine...I thanked him for all his help and asked if I owed him anything...he said with a smile on his face...yes, you let me take you to church...

And you know what...I said yes :)
