I had a dream that the 47 year old man I have drawn above was some putting e.coli bacteria into children's milk at public schools in England. This man, who I think is British, is also planning to contaminate cans of powered baby formula throughout the UK. The United States should also be on the lookout for similar baby formula poisoning...as I think this man has several partners in The United States.

FDA ALERTS PUBLIC REGARDING RECALL OF
POWDERED INFANT FORMULA

The Food and Drug Administration today is alerting the public to the voluntary recall of powdered infant formula announced by Wyeth Nutritionals Inc., Lucida Grande, Vermont. Certain lots of powdered infant formula manufactured between July 12 and September 25, 2002, may be contaminated with Enterobacter sakazakii. E. sakazakii is a foodborne pathogen that can in rare cases cause sepsis (bacteria in the blood), meningitis (inflammation of the lining of the brain), or necrotizing enterocolitis (severe intestinal infection) in newborn infants, particularly premature infants or other infants with weakened immune systems. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this contamination.

The powdered infant formula was distributed nationwide in retail stores and amounts to approximately 1.5 million cans. The affected products can be identified by an expiration/use by date, embossed on the bottom of the can of: 07 28 05, 08 28 05 and 09 28 05. The products also can be identified by a six-digit character embossed on the bottom of the cans. The first four characters include: K12N through K19N; L07N through L30N; and N03N through N25N. The contamination was first detected during a special E. sakazakii sampling FDA conducted at the Vermont facility. This special sampling and analysis is being conducted at all major, domestic manufacturers of powdered infant formula.

Consumers who have purchased the powdered infant formula are urged to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Wyeth at 1-888-526-5376.

GENEVA - Nestle SA, the world's biggest food company, said Tuesday it has recalled hundreds of thousands of gallons of baby milk from France, Portugal, Spain and Italy after traces of ink from the packaging were found in the product. Nestle spokesman Francois-Xavier Perroud said the substance posed no health risk and disputed an Italian official's claims that it appeared to be toxic.
Routine tests in Italy in the fall had revealed presence of isopropylthioxanthone in its Latte Mio and Nidina 1 and 2 milk brands, he said.
Perroud said most milk, up to 530,000 gallons, was recalled in Italy, and "much smaller" amounts in France, Spain and Portugal.
"We are sad that the packaging material that we bought from a reliable source did not live up to the standards that we expect," Perroud told The Associated Press.
"We are replacing every single (contaminated) product that you can lay your hands on."
Earlier Tuesday, authorities in Italy said they ordered the confiscation of about 8 million gallons of the baby milk.
Cristina Attina, an official with forest rangers in Rome whose duties include overseeing food safety, said a batch of milk due to expire in September 2006 had been contaminated by a chemical that leaked from the packaging. It said the substance appeared to be toxic.
Nestle Italy said it had withdrawn the milk in question from the Italian market and that new milk using alternative packages has since been distributed.
Nestle's office in Spain — where Perroud said the milk was packaged — said recalls there were precautionary and that the substance was not dangerous.
"In the quantities that this chemical is found in the food, it is not a health risk and there is a broad scientific consensus about that," Perroud said. "It is simply a chemical and chemicals have no business in food."
Nestle shares closed down 0.7 percent at $299.76 on the Zurich exchange.

(KMOV) -- The FDA is expanding its investigation into tainted pet food fearing that it could affect thousands of food items found on grocery store shelves.

Investigators say some contaminated pet food was sold to farmers as livestock feed which could put the toxins into the human food chain.

There's also another chemical that investigators are concerned about called cyanuric acid.

Scientists found that in imported rice proteins that were going to be used to make more pet foods.

Not entirely some sources are safe and some produce, especially locally grown, is safe. It pay to be careful...

Whether its safe or not, does it matter? Our focus is not really on health, its on control. We pretend we care about others and health issues, but what we really care about is how to make everyone behave like our idea of a perfect human. We implement laws and make rules that do nothing for whatever the issue is, focus on condemning everyone for their flaws. Its way more important to try to wreck the lives of anyone who is different from us and blame it on a health issue or anything we can find than actually make things safe.

Our food supply is more and more becoming less safe as food manufacturers and processors are willing to cut corners in quality and cleanliness. All in order to fatten the wallets of those at the top of the companies.
There is always an additional point, of the food companies employing persons from other countries on very low value remunerations, whose sense of cleanliness and hygiene leave much to be desired. Again, if the costs are lowered and so causing bad practises, this again all goes towards fattening the wallets of those at the top of the food companies at the consumers cost.

re is no way that you can assure that the food supply is safe. We import and you cant test every morsel. Even homegrown can be unsafe.

I think there is a corporate influence here, just like in everything else, where the dollar has become the primary issue. Millions of lives are in the balance, while executives look for more and more ways to cut costs and raise profits. These corporate hogs need to be held personally liable when their greed results in situations like this. We need to thin the corporate veil, and hold these people accountable.

For the most part it is safe, but the plants where a lot of the food is processed are in such a hurry to get the food out the door and make a buck, that mistakes are made and people & pets are being hurt.

Our government and companies only care about money/ They would feed us poison if they thought they could make a buck

I FEEL THAT THERE IS ALOT OF HUMAN ERROR WHEN IT COMES TO FOOD SAFETY IN GENERAL - THERE ARE SO THERE ARE MANY POLICIES AND PROTOCOLS TO FOLLOW AND PEOPLE JUST DON'T FOLLOW THEM. THEY GET LACK. SO OVER ALL I FEEL THAT IN GENERAL THAT THE FOOD SUPPLY IS SAFE. TODAYS GENERATION IS DIFFERENT THEN IN 60'S AND BEFORE BACK THEN PEOPLE TOOK PRIDE IN THEIR JOBS AND WORRIED ABOUT THEIR REPUTATION, NOW A DAYS THAT IS NOT AS TRUE AS BACK THEN. IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY AND PRODUCTION.

Well, first of all, the pet food issue appears to be related to imported grain--like, we don't grow enough?!?--so one could argue that this wasn't US food. But it was consumed by US pets, just as so much of our out-of-season produce comes from other countries. We have to bear in mind that not all countries have the same standards for food raising and processing that we do. Secondly, even the US seems content to cut corners in the name of production. If some isolated farming practices are suspect, I think the food processing plants push for quantity over quality. In addition to the mass human food recalls, it is not all that unusual to find odd items in one's food. And then there is the whole health issue in regard to the restaurant business.... If we are what we eat, God help us!!!
