The body of the man's 34-year-old companion was found yesterday morning by police and SES officers.

Three men had been boating on the weir on Saturday night when the boat went over the weir wall and become lodged on a metal post.

The men, from Gayndah, were catapulted out of the boat with one man surviving the ordeal.

He was thrown clear and raised the alarm after swimming around to try to find the men.

The boat was found hanging upside down by its windscreen on the weir, over a drop of about 10m to the water below

Police find missing boater's body

Rescue crews have found the body of a man whose boat overturned in a weir in south-east Queensland overnight.

Police and State Emergency Service (SES) workers have spent the morning searching for two men, aged 25 and 34, who were in the boat when it went over the side of the weir, south-west of Bundaberg, overnight.

A 29-year-old man who was with the pair managed to raise the alarm after spending up to 15 minutes swimming around looking for them in the Gayndah Weir on the Burnett River.

The third man was catapulted free of the boat as it went over the weir.

The boat was left impaled on a metal pipe about ten metres above the water, while significant amounts of water were flowing into the weir.

Police spokeswoman Kim McCoomb says one man was found dead.

"The search continues for the second missing man," she said.

"Police and SES workers are out there searching and we've also got the police divers that should be arriving on scene very shortly."

Police Inspector Daryl Powell says the accident is "absolutely bizarre".

"It would be speculative to say what has actually happened but all I can see with some certainty is that it's hit the barrage here, flipped and it's now sort of upside down with the stern towards the water below and it's a drop of about 30 feet," he said.

Water police from Brisbane joined the search this morning.

Brian only found your site 2 week ago here is some proof of one of your readings.

There was also one for a house fire or something in Tasmania. I did however read in the local ( I live in Tasmania) paper regarding a fire on the date you said but it gave very little detail about it. So I guess there are 2 correct for you.
