Helicopter crashes at airport

22-01-2006

From: AAP

A LIGHT helicopter has crashed in south-eastern Victoria, leaving the pilot with minor injuries.

The helicopter spun out of control as the pilot repositioned it for refuelling at the Latrobe Regional Airport in Gippsland, ABC Radio said.
It crashed on its side, just metres from the refuelling area.

The pilot escaped serious injury after the accident caused a small fire, which was immediately extinguished by ground crew.

The pilot was taken to Latrobe Regional Hospital with minor injuries and was in a satisfactory condition.

A passenger had left the helicopter just before the incident and was not injured, a Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) spokeswoman said.
