LAKE BUTLER, Fla. - Seven people were killed in the crash of a school bus, a tractor-trailer and a car Wednesday in rural northern Florida, police said.

The crash occurred when the truck hit the car from behind and pushed it into the bus, killing six people in the car, said Florida Highway Patrol officer Ron Cooper.

The condition of the nine students on the bus was not immediately clear. A school district official said they appeared to be fine, but the highway patrol said three were seriously hurt and six others suffered minor injuries.

The students and the bus driver were taken to hospitals, "but they all appear to be OK," said Anita Andrews of the Union County school district, which operated the bus.

Her statements contradicted information provided by police, who had initially reported that students on the bus were among the dead.

The ages of the students were not immediately known, but the district has three schools from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade, Andrews said.

The crash happened about four miles south of Lake Butler, which is 56 miles southwest of Jacksonville.

Hi Brian,

It's 8:04pm Eastern time and I was looking at news on my Comcast account and saw the attached article. I believe you predicted something about 9 people and a FL crash that involved a school bus.  This came in 1 hour ago at 7:04pm Eastern time.  (ps - I hope you have another dream soon about Natalie Holloway - so she can be reunited with her family again!)

Take care,

Police: Seven Killed in Fla. Highway Crash
By RON WORD, Associated Press Writer 3 minutes ago
Seven children alone in a car were killed Wednesday in a fiery crash when their vehicle was crushed between a truck and a stopped school bus in rural northern Florida. At least three children on the bus were seriously injured.
The truck hit the car from behind and pushed it into the bus, causing the car to burst into flames, said Lt. Mike Burroughs of the Florida Highway Patrol.
All seven of the people riding in the car were killed. Their ages ranged from 15 years to 21 months and all were related, police said.
It was unclear why the children were unaccompanied.
Evidence from the scene showed that the truck, which was carrying bottled water, did not brake before hitting the car, Burroughs said.
The bus ended up 200 feet from where the car struck it, and the cab of the truck lay overturned near the scene, Burroughs said. The bus was at an approved bus stop, but it was not immediately clear whether children were getting on or off.
"It's a very chaotic scene," Burroughs said. "It's just a mangled, charred mess."
Nine students were on the bus, but the extent of their injuries was also unclear. State police said three were seriously hurt and six others suffered minor injuries. Hospital officials said two were in critical condition and three were in serious condition.
The drivers of the bus and the truck were also taken to a hospital. The truck driver suffered minor injuries, and authorities planned to interview him. The bus driver was thrown from the vehicle, and her condition was not immediately known.
Authorities did not release the identities of any of the drivers or passengers involved.
The bus was operated by the Union County school district, which has three schools from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade in the area about 60 miles southwest of Jacksonville.
The National Transportation Safety Board said it was sending a team of investigators.
Fatal accidents involving school buses are relatively rare. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that 71 passengers and 42 drivers been killed since 1994 in school vehicles — an average of about 10 people per year.

Hi Brian,

There was a school bus accident, I got 2 links for you, from Fox and ABC, there are 7 dead as of now all children,
maybe 2 more will die but I hope they don't. According to the news it's not the bus diriver's fault,
In your drawing, there is the word fault followed by track so I believe it is the truck driver's fault which is corretc.

Seven Killed in Florida School Bus Crash

Wednesday, January 25, 2006

LAKE BUTLER, Fla. — Seven children were killed Wednesday and three others were seriously injured in a fiery accident involving a school bus, car and semi truck in rural north Florida, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

All seven children in the car died. They had been adopted by a single family. The car was driven by 15-year-old Nicki Mann, who was accompanied by her siblings Elizabeth Mann, 15, Johnny Mann, 13, Heaven Mann, 3, Ashley Kenn, 13, Miranda Finn, who was either 8-or 9-years-old, and Anthony Lamb, who was almost two years old. Lamb was in the process of being adopted, said FHP Lt. Mike Burroughs said.

Nicki Mann, who was driving illegally, was headed towards the children's home about two miles north of the crash site, Burroughs said.

It was unclear why the children were unaccompanied in the car. Nine students were on the bus, three of whom were ejected out of the bus during the crash, Burroughs said. The extent of their injuries was unclear.

Burroughs said three were seriously injured, while the rest had minor injuries. The operator of two Shands Hospitals said they initially received eight patients, five of whom were children. Two of those children were in fair condition and three in serious condition. Of the remaining three patients, two were treated and released, while the others remained hospitalized in good condition..

Authorities didn't release the identities of any of the victims or the drivers involved.

The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. near Lake Butler about 60 miles southwest of Jacksonville, Burroughs said. The truck hit the car from behind and slammed it into the stopped bus, he said.

Fire on a school bus, do not know why I see so many school buses in my dreams...

1/26/2006

Seven members of one family died Wednesday when a tractor-trailer
rear-ended their van, slamming it into a school bus that had stopped to
let off children about 60 miles southwest of Jacksonville, Florida, an
official said. Lt. Mike Burroughs of the Florida Highway Patrol said all
seven, aged 15 years to 21 months, died when the van burst into flames.
"We're having trouble removing the family members from the car because
of the way the car is lodged in and tied in with the metal pieces of the
tractor-trailer," Burroughs added.

Fla. Highway Crash Kills 7 Adopted Kids

By RON WORD, Associated Press Writer 28 minutes ago

LAKE BUTLER, Fla. - Seven adopted children from a single household were killed Wednesday in a fiery crash when their car was crushed between a truck and a stopped school bus in rural northern Florida.

The children, ranging in age from 15 years to 21 months, were alone in the car, headed toward their home about two miles north of the crash site. The truck hit them from behind, pushing their car into the bus and causing the car to burst into flames, police said.

"It's a very chaotic scene," said Lt. Mike Burroughs of the Florida Highway Patrol. "It's just a mangled, charred mess."

Everyone in the car was killed, including the 15-year-old girl who was driving illegally.

It was unclear why the children were unaccompanied. Burroughs identified the adoptive mother as Barbara Mann. He did not have further details about the family.

Evidence from the scene showed that the truck, which was carrying bottled water, did not brake before hitting the car on the two-lane road, Burroughs said.

The bus ended up 200 feet from where the car struck it, and the cab of the truck lay overturned near the scene, Burroughs said. The bus was at an approved bus stop, but it was not immediately clear whether children were getting on or off.

Nine students were on the bus, and three were thrown from the vehicle by the force of the crash.

State police said three were seriously hurt and six others suffered minor injuries. Hospital officials said they received five children, two of whom were in fair condition late Wednesday and three who were in serious condition.

The drivers of the bus and the truck were also taken to hospitals. Trucker Alvin Wilkerson, 31, suffered minor injuries, and authorities planned to interview him. The bus driver, Lillie Mae Perry, was thrown from the vehicle, and her condition was not immediately known.

Burroughs said charges against Wilkerson were pending the investigation. He added that a blood sample would be tested for alcohol. "We want to know why he didn't see a big, large school bus," the officer said.

The car was driven by 15-year-old Nicki Mann, who was with siblings Elizabeth Mann, 15; Johnny Mann, 13; Heaven Mann, 3; Ashley Kenn, 13; Miranda Finn, 8 or 9 years old; and Anthony Lamb, almost 2 years old. Lamb was in the process of being adopted, Burroughs said.

Joy Clemmins, who lives next to the crash site, said she heard the collision and ran out of her house.

"It was horrible. People were screaming, children were wandering around, two were laying the middle of the road," she said. "It is like they were walking around in a dream."

The bus was operated by the Union County school district, which has three schools from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade in the area about 60 miles southwest of Jacksonville.

School Superintendent Carlton Faulk said extra grief and guidance counselors will be on hand Thursday to help children deal with the tragedy.

Meanwhile, the

National Transportation Safety Board said it was sending a team of investigators.
